To securely attach a new nib, you must hold the plastic tip firmly with one hand while you gently twist the main body of the pencil with the other hand. You are tightening the internal mechanism. This action threads the nib into the holder.
No, this is normal! The threading for the nib is designed to be secure. It may take several full turns (2-5 twists) of the pencil body for the nib to fully catch and thread onto the internal mechanism for a snug fit. Continue twisting until the nib is firmly in place.
If your nib feels wobbly, simply repeat the process: hold the metal tip firmly and twist the pencil body clockwise until the nib is fully secure. Do not over-tighten, but ensure it no longer wiggles.
No, one of the key benefits of EverQuill is that the specialized polymer nibs maintain a point as they are used. You will eventually need to swap them out for new nibs (roughly every month depending on use). Check out our EverColor subscription plan to save 50%
Yes, this is completely normal and intentional! Due to the unique polymer makeup of the nibs, the color goes on naturally light when you use a soft touch.
To achieve a deeper, more vibrant color, simply apply more pressure as you color. The color darkens beautifully as the polymer is compacted onto the paper.
Yes. The EverQuill is designed to emulate the soft, buildable quality of a solid watercolor or a dry pastel, allowing you to create beautiful, subtle shading and layering effects with a light hand.
Absolutely! The polymer formula allows for excellent layering and blending. Start with a light application and layer different colors on top of each other to create custom hues and smooth transitions.
The polymer composition is designed to be largely smudge-resistant once applied. Unlike traditional graphite or charcoal, it creates a clean coloring experience.
Yes, the polymer nibs are fully erasable, especially when applied with a light touch. We recommend using a quality white vinyl or polymer eraser (like a Pentel Hi-Polymer or Staedtler Mars Plastic) for the best results.
The longevity of the nib depends on your pressure and usage. However, because the nib material is highly durable and doesn't require sharpening, a single nib can last significantly longer than a standard wooden colored pencil. One nib should last 1 month.
Wipe the exterior of the pencil body with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid submerging the pencil in water or using harsh chemical cleaners. Do not use an abrasive cloth as this can scratch the pencil.
Our polymer nibs are made from non-toxic, safe materials, but they are not intended for consumption. Please keep them away from small children and pets.
EverQuill works well on most paper types, from sketch pads to coloring books. For the most vibrant results, we recommend a medium-smooth to slightly textured drawing paper.
First, try to carefully shake or tap the pencil, pointed tip down, to dislodge the broken piece. If it remains stuck, use a pair of fine tweezers to gently grasp and remove the fragment from the barrel.
